Floods have been Malaysia’s most frequent environmental disaster. Despite increasingly heavy public outlays by Malaysian authorities on flood management measures, inundations have increased in occurrence and severity in recent times. Against this background, ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute invited Assistant Professor Fiona Clare Williamson (Singapore Management University) and Professor Chan Ngai Weng (Universiti Sains Malaysia) to present historical and contemporary perspectives on Malaysia’s flood problems.
ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute partners Temasek Foundation Connects to present “GLC Governance: Singapore’s Experience and Lessons for Vietnam’s SOE Reform”, a 5-day programme to share Singapore’s experience in managing its State-Owned Enterprises or what is commonly known in Singapore as government-linked companies (GLC) with our friends from Vietnam.
The seminar “Rights and reforms under Pakatan Harapan: Islam, Gender, Shariah in “New” Malaysia” was organised as part of the Malaysia in Transition Series, which looks at post GE-14 situation in the country. Two distinguished academics spoke at the seminar, moderated by ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute Fellow Dr Norshahril Saat. About 60 participants attended the seminar.
