The National Security Strategy as unveiled by US President Donald Trump on 18 December 2017 is the first cogent iteration of his foreign policy agenda since taking office in January this year. The “Malaysian Elections: Outlook for GE14” conference on 13 December 2017 provided speakers a platform to share their insights and research on voting trends and expectations concerning Malaysia’s forthcoming fourteenth general election, with particular attention paid to themes such as analysing Malaysia’s rural vote, the electoral impact of campaign spending, the use of social media in political campaigns, as well as observing voting patterns in Johor, Selangor, Kelantan and East Malaysia.
