Seminar on Political and Economic Risk in Malaysia beyond 1MDB

In this seminar, Jahabar Sadiq goes through the saga and the scenarios that could develop for the next 12 months.
Thursday, 28 April 2016 – The Malaysia Studies Programme at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute hosted a seminar by Mr Jahabar Sadiq who was the Chief Executive Officer and Editor of The Malaysian Insider, Malaysia’s fastest growing news portal until it was shut down on March 15, 2016.

Mr Jahabar provided a wide-ranging breakdown of the political and economic impact of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a strategic development company, wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia, scandal.

He noted how the 1MDB scandal has led to the further degradation of institutions and people’s moral compass in Malaysia.
