Nikkei – ISEAS Forum Part 1: Exploring Digital Trade and Initiatives in Southeast Asia
NIKKEI – ISEAS Forum: Digitalizing Trade in Southeast Asia and ASEAN
Digital trade in the region has been growing over the past decade and is projected to continue thriving as a key source of economic growth. The digitalization of trade has also brought greater attention to “digital only” trade frameworks and agreements that regional governments are working on. The Nikkei-ISEAS Forum will take a deeper analytical look at the trends and prospects of enabling framework conditions for digital trade, key policy initiatives at national and regional level, as well as key provisions in the major trade agreements that can potentially affect digital trade.
This first webinar will examine digital trade by exploring the conceptual framework for measuring digital trade and characterizing the impact of digital technologies on cross-border trade. It will take stock of regional and country studies on the development of digital trade, and business challenges encountered in digital trade.
The keynote speaker will be sharing his insights on the rise of digital trade and regional initiatives that could be further strengthened to tackle digital trade at national and regional/ASEAN level.
