Call for Papers – Vietnamese Communist Party’s 13th Congress: Dilemmas of Development and Global Integration

Background

The Vietnamese Communist Party (VCP) will be holding its 13th National Congress in 2021, a pivotal event where critical decisions on leadership renewal and policy are on the agenda.

To examine possible scenarios at the Party Congress and broader issues about the dilemmas of development and global integration in Vietnam, the US-Vietnam Research Center, University of Oregon in collaboration with ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore will be organising a two-day symposium in the second half of 2020.

This symposium hopes to promote a better understanding of Vietnamese politics and economy by addressing four sets of questions below:

    1. Vietnamese Communist Party’s 13th Congress
    2. Causes of Growth and Nature of the State and the Economy
    3. Political Impact of Growth
    4. Vietnam in Comparative Perspectives
