Note to Contributors
Research articles
Contributions are invited from all scholars, especially those working in Southeast Asian universities and research institutions. Each article should be no longer than 8,000 words in length, including notes and references. It should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 100 words and a note on the author’s affiliation. Research notes and comments, which would include reports of research findings of shorter length, as well as reports of ongoing research projects, are also invited. Notes on conferences, seminars, and workshops, and comments on institutions devoted to Southeast Asian Studies are published as well.
The manuscript should be submitted as softcopy with a margin of 3 cm all round and typed with double spacing. Bibliographical references should be incorporated into the text using the author-date system, with page numbers where appropriate. Notes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively throughout the text. All references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the article. For journal articles, the volume and issue number, month and year of publication and inclusive page numbers should be provided.
Research notes
Research notes are usually 3000-5000 words in length including notes and references. They provide details about current research. They are different from articles in that they do not have to have a conceptual or theoretical framework – they can be accounts of research methods, they can present pilot, preliminary or exploratory findings. The findings should be explained and documented.
Contributors of Articles, Symposium, and Research Notes and Comments will receive two hardcopies of the issue in which their contribution is published. They will also receive a PDF softcopy of their article along with a complimentary 3-issue subscription of the journal. Book Reviewers will receive one hardcopy of the issue in which their review is published.
