Big Books at the Library

One of the thickest single volumes you’ll come across at ISEAS Library is in our Reference section.

Đại từ điẻ̂n kinh té̂ thị trường is an encyclopedia and dictionary of economics concepts in Vietnamese, published in 1998. Its 2,023 pages clocks in at around 10.3cm thick and a hefty 3.5kg!

Although it’s quite thick, it’s printed on thin dictionary-like paper, so it’s nowhere near the heaviest or the thickest.

That honor belongs to the 2000 edition of Commodity Flow in the Philippines, which can be found in the Statistics section.

Published in 2001 by the National Statistics Office, this behemoth volume of 2,330 pages provides comprehensive statistics on regional and domestic commodity flows for 1996 to 2000.

At around 17.5cm thick and a hefty 7.1kg, it is the thickest volume we have at the Library, and one of the heaviest!

This massive volume and other (slimmer!) Philippine statistics are available at Level 2, call number Sta aph HF1040.9 P5C73 2000. Đại từ điẻ̂n kinh té̂ thị trường is available at call number Ref HB61 D13 in the Reference section.
