Monday, 29 June 2015 - This afternoon, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) organized the 35th Singapore Lecture, delivered by The Hon Tony Abbott MP, Prime Minister of Australia at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.
The Lecture entitled “Our Common Challenges: Strengthening Security in the Region” was held under the distinguished Chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Teo Chee Hean.
The Lecture was attended by over 900 guests including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Defence, The Honourable Andrew Robb AO MP, Australian Minister for Trade and Investment, ambassadors, senior government officials, business leaders, academics, students and members of the media. Members of the Australian community in Singapore were also present at the event.

The Singapore Lecture is one of the intellectual highlights of Singapore. It is designed to provide an opportunity for distinguished statesmen and leaders of thought and knowledge to reach a wider audience in Singapore. The presence of such eminent personalities will allow members of the audience, the opportunity to hear from leading world figures speak on topics of international and regional interest.
Recent speakers include Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
