ISEAS and the University of Michigan cordially invite you to our inaugural Indonesia Forum 2018: Evolving Political, Economic and Business Environment Going into 2019, to be held on 21 September 2018 at the Orchard Hotel, Singapore.
Indonesia has undergone a significant transition from an authoritarian government under the New Order to a vibrant democratic government. Its democratic system has evolved and has successfully produced nine general elections, hundreds of local elections, and witnessed three heads of state peacefully depart office in favour of elected successors. In April 2019, Indonesia will for the first time conduct a simultaneous Presidential and Parliamentarian elections. Given expectation of heated political situation, investors are wondering how Indonesia will navigate its economy during the political years. Even without the election, Indonesia has often been a challenging place to operate for business due to combination of its lagging infrastructure, regulatory complexity and uncertainty.
This Forum will bring together a combination of experts on Indonesia to share their perspectives on the country’s evolving political, economic and business landscape, including its future prospects. Particularly, this interactive business forum aims to:
(a) discuss the political development, Islam and how the two are linked in Indonesia’s political landscape;
(b) discuss the economic and business trends and prospects going into 2019;
(c) facilitate networking amongst business leaders who are seeking opportunities for synergy.
The half-day Forum will be of interest to the business community, diplomatic community, policymakers, and those who are interested in the political and socio-economic developments in Indonesia.
The registration fee for the Forum is S$250 nett per person. However, registration before 31 August 2018 will enjoy a 20% early bird discount. Group registration (5 persons or more) will enjoy a 20% discount per person.
