ISEAS Library collections are organized
and treated according to established international standards.
This encompasses shelf arrangements and classification; and
cataloguing, indexing and subject analysis.
Shelf
Arrangements and Classification
Printed materials in the Open Stacks are
arranged on the shelves according to the Library of Congress
Classification scheme to facilitate browsing.
Other non-print materials,
maps and documents are arranged according to their accession
or running numbers.
Current journals, which are
displayed are arranged by their titles in alphabetical order.
Current newspapers are displayed according to their countries
of origin, in alphabetical order.
Cataloguing,
Indexing and Subject Analysis
Catalogue entries of the main collections
and their descriptions are made according to the Anglo-American
cataloguing rules, second edition, 2002 revision. The
Library of Congress subject headings is the
authority used to assign subject headings for each entry.
In addition, the OECD Macrothesaurus as well as a number
of specialized thesauri are used to assign descriptor terms
to articles and documents which are indexed.
