The RSPS programme seeks to address strategic issues within and affecting the Southeast Asian region (and the wider Asia-Pacific), and to understand the dynamics of political change within the regional states.
Recent RSPS research activities covered issues concerning strategic and political developments within Southeast Asia and also those beyond but had impact on the region. The focus was on the security and stability of the region and the latter’s relationship with major powers.
The programme publishes the internationally refereed journal Contemporary Southeast Asia three times a year. It covers topics on regionalism, security and strategic affairs, domestic political developments, and international relations relevant to Southeast Asia. Its stable of publications also includes the annual Southeast Asian Affairs, which is regarded as a flagship publication of ISEAS.
