Soft launch by Singapore President S. R. Nathan of the
S. Rajaratnam Permanent Exhibition on 9 April 2007

Visitors walking through the ISEAS library main entrance will see on their left a cosy reading corner which will be known informally as the Rajaratnam Corner. It has a display of 1,000 out of the 4,507 books donated to the library by the estate of the late Mr S. Rajaratnam. The corner comes with information panels on the life and legacy of this man, Singapore’s first Foreign Minister and then Deputy Prime Minister before he retired from 29 years in politics to be a Senior Distinguished Fellow at ISEAS. Mr Rajaratnam passed away on 22 February 2006.

Mr Rajaratnam was also an avid photographer. In this reading corner is a DVD system where you can view a selection of the beautiful photos he took on his travels. For a quick tour of the man’s career, two filmlets are made available by MediaCorp. These and other material make the Rajaratnam Corner an educational experience.

On 9 April, the Rajaratnam Corner had a soft launch by Singapore President S. R. Nathan.
