The FEALAC Academic Network (FAN) Project

The FAN project is a cooperative project initiated by the Government of Chile within the Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC). It is being implemented by the Chile Pacific Foundation in association with the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) Singapore. Funding has been provided by the Japan Program at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and is gratefully acknowledged.

The project involves creating a data bank which has been tailored to map institutions in FEALAC member countries that have the potential to engage in academic cooperation between East Asia and Latin America and to raise mutual awareness. The substantive areas covered in the data bank reflect the issues addressed by FEALAC's three Working Groups (Political and Cultural; Economic and Social; and Education, Science, and Technology). The FAN website was designed to stimulate interregional flows of information by providing reliable and up-to-date information on which institutions are working in each of these fields.
