Abstract

The global energy industry is now in the era of high energy prices. It is going through rapid and exciting transformations The advent of new technology coupled with high energy prices will see alternative energy sources such as coal and nuclear making a comeback.  Global warming and CO2 emissions reduction is expected to bring about a renaissance to the nuclear industry. Environmentally friendly natural gas demand is growing strongly, especially in power generation. Energy security has taken centre stage, requiring diversification of energy sources and supply.  To support the global economy path towards sustainable growth, the energy complex requires massive investments in energy infrastructure. New and major investments in Singapore's energy infrastructure such as liquid natural gas (LNG), biofuels and storage, are precursors of a global energy city. The key to sustainable growth is infrastructure, in particular energy infrastructure.
