He has been conferred various awards, medals and listed several times in “Who’s Who in the World”. Abstract Dr Lohani will present the ADB's recently approved Long-term Strategic Framework 2008-2020, or Strategy 2020. Strategy 2020 is anchored on three complementary strategic agendas — inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration. One of the core areas of operation of Strategy 2020 is on strengthening its operational emphasis on clean energy & environment. Asia’s robust economic growth is contributing to accelerating environmental degradation and impacting climate change. The region’s energy demand is forecasted to double by 2015. Asia’s energy sector's share of global carbon dioxide emissions have more than tripled to 28% in 2005. Environmental damage from fast growth is already impeding the region's development and is reducing the quality of life — with the poor most severely affected. Dr Lohani will share his views on the challenge of Clean Energy and Climate Change in Asia — with a focus on how multilateral organizations such as the ADB have been planning to incorporate the challenges posed by climate change as well as discuss priority policy actions that Asian Countries should consider to help address these challenges.
