Hung Yong is
the author of “Five Men and Five Ideas — Building National Identity”
launched in April by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi.
He is currently Director of the consultancy firm Transformation Research
Associates.
Hung
Yong holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University and a
Bachelor of Laws from King’s College, University of London. He was called to
the Bar at the Inner Temple, London in 1971, and to the Malaysian Bar the
following year.
In 1980, Hung Yong attended the Advanced Program at Harvard Business
School.
He
began his working career as a journalist and moved into the corporate world in
the mid-1970s, and has experiences from the fields of newspaper publishing,
hotel & property development, gaming & property development, shipping,
credit cards, steel, and trading and portal development.
He
later served as a Member of the Senate (Dewan Negara) (1982-83), was special
assistant to the president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (1974-76), was
the founding director/CEO of Yayasan Salam Malaysia (National Volunteer Service
Agency) (1996-97), and also trustee of the Harvard Business School Alumni Club
of Malaysia (1985-90).
